Admire Labrang Monastery’s red walls and elaborate gold and copper colored roofs • Follow the pilgrimage trail around Labrang Monastery • Sit down to lunch with a local nomad family • Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure: relax in the camp’s spa, go horseback riding, or hike through the surrounding area.


Option 1: Learn from local women how to weave delicate yak wool handicrafts • Option 2: Pay a visit to a nearby village and walk on the old town’s mud wall and visit a local monastery and a famous religious cave • Hike through the camp’s verdant surroundings.


BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit this is from May to October, depending on what you want to see and do. May - June (late spring to early summer) Pleasant temperatures (15-25 °C) Green landscapes in the mountains and valleys. July - August (high summer) Ideal for festivals in Tibetan areas and yak herds on summer pastures. September - October (late summer and autumn) Clear skies and beautiful autumn colors, Good travel time for photography and trekking. November - April (winter) Cold, with snow in high-altitude areas. Not ideal for travel unless you specifically come for winter landscapes.
